Don't save all your Halloween fun for next weekend! While next Saturday will be filled with trick-or-treaters, ringing doorbells, and enough candy to keep the neighborhood dentists busy, this weekend is when many of the Valley's biggest Halloween festivals are taking place. From Peoria's Halloween Bash and North Phoenix's BooFest to glowing hot air balloons in Scottsdale, there's plenty of spooky fun to be had!
Beyond the Halloween festivities, there is a new Goodwill at 43rd & Bell to check out, an official opening date for Flower Child at The Trailhead, and a community-wide open house event happening Saturday right here in 85308.

Goodwill opens new location
Bargain hunters have a new place to explore with the grand opening of a Goodwill store at 43rd Avenue and Bell Road. Whether you're hunting for hidden treasures, affordable clothing, or household finds, there's another spot in the neighborhood to put your thrifting skills to the test. I had never been to opening day at a new Goodwill store, so I stopped by to see what all the hype was about. I have to say, it felt like every other Goodwill, but with 10x as many customers and all the registers were open…🤷🏻♂️
Flower Child Sets Opening Date at The Trailhead!
The wait is almost over for fans of fresh, healthy eats in North Peoria! Flower Child has officially announced a November 17th opening at The Trailhead near 83rd Avenue and Happy Valley Road, bringing its popular lineup of salads, bowls, wraps, and scratch-made favorites to the neighborhood.
Loop 101 current and upcoming closures and restrictions
The eastbound Loop 101 ramps to north- and southbound Interstate 17 will be closed from 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, and again from 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Eastbound Loop 101 also will be narrowed to three lanes between 35th Avenue and I-17.
The right lane on eastbound Loop 101 will be closed between 35th Avenue and the 27th Avenue off-ramp/ramp to I-17 from 5 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Eastbound Loop 101 will be closed between 75th to 51st avenues from 10 p.m Friday, Oct. 23, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26.
The eastbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Bell Road and Union Hills Drive also will be closed.
DETOUR: Drivers may use eastbound Union Hills Drive to connect with eastbound Loop 101 at 51st or 35th avenues.
Ongoing lane restrictions
The right lane on eastbound Loop 101 will continue to be closed between 35th Avenue and the 27th Avenue off-ramp/ramp to I-17 through 5 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27.
The eastbound Loop 101 frontage road is reduced to one lane between 37th and 35th avenues through early 2027.
Upcoming closures and restrictions
Eastbound Loop 101 will be closed between 51st and 27th avenues from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2.
The eastbound Loop 101 on-ramps at 75th, 67th and 59th avenues also will be closed.
DETOUR: Drivers may use eastbound Union Hills to connect with I-17, or to 19th Avenue to connect with eastbound Loop 101.
