Construction updates

Mission BBQ at 73rd Ave & Bell Road has seen a lot of progress, but still has a long way to go before it will be close to opening.

The much anticipated Fogo de Chao, which is going into the former On the Border location near 77th Ave & Bell Road, is also well underway but still a long way from serving up delicious meats.

The former Fox & Hound location at P83, which was supposed to be the multipurpose entertainment center called Tavern Park, is almost fully transformed into a new medical & office facility.

State 48 Brewery is trimming its Valley footprint, announcing the closure of its locations at The Shops at Norterra in north Phoenix and Westgate Entertainment District in Glendale. While it's always disappointing to see a local brewery leave, fans can still visit State 48's remaining locations in Surprise and Scottsdale for their favorite Arizona-crafted beers and pub fare.

FYI, stay out of the desert in the summer. It shocking that it has to be said, but it is also shocking how many hikers have to be rescued by firefighters each week all across the Phoenix metro area. A 71 year old man had to be airlifted off Mummy Mountain this week, and a 61 year old man passed away on a South Mountain trail last Saturday. This same man had been in a local hiking Facebook group a month earlier sharing how the heat wasn’t an issue for him because of how experienced he was. As my hiking friend said ‘the heat always wins.’
Be safe, stay home when its this hot. Both of these people started early in the morning when it was much cooler, and it didn’t matter.
