We are blessed to have an amazing park & mountains right in the backyard of Arrowhead Ranch. It is an amenity that makes our community one of the most unique and desirable in all of the Phoenix Metro.
For the first 10 years or so that I lived in Arrowhead, I kind of took Thunderbird Conservation Park for granted and only used the trails a few times, and only going to the top of Arrowhead Point one time.
A few years ago, I began spending more time in the park and hiking 1-2 times per weak during the winter.

My favorite of the three peaks in the park is what I believe is called North Thunderbird Peak. It is the highest point on the Cholla Loop Trail. The views from all three peaks are spectacular, but this peak & entire trail really stand out with me. I’ve had some beautiful views and experiences on this trail. Sunrises, sunsets and some thunderstorms too (going hiking when there are storm clouds is not good! I’m really smart 🤔)
I’m grateful for the ability to make the hike to the top of this peak, and there are times when a herniated disc have prevented me from getting to the top, which is why I wanted to share the views and experiences from my time on the trail.
Below are some of my favorite images.
