I've lived in the Valley long enough to know that there's always something new to discover, even in neighborhoods we drive through every day. This week, we're introducing a new feature that proves exactly that: Birds of Arrowhead!

If you're part of our Everything Arrowhead Facebook group, you've probably seen some of the incredible bird photography shared by local resident Bruce Donaldson. His photos have opened my eyes to just how much wildlife we have right here in our own backyard, and he's agreed to help us learn a little more about our feathered neighbors.

Another thrift option could be on the way for northwest Glendale residents. Goodwill is seeking a Conditional Use Permit to open a thrift store at 5830 W. Greenway Road, near 59th Avenue, bringing another destination for bargain hunters and secondhand shoppers to the area. The proposal is still in the approval process, with no opening date announced.

This makes me wonder if this would replace the current Goodwill store at 61st Ave & Bell Road.

I guess I don’t use 67th Avenue that often, and I missed the demolition of the former Circle K location next to Safeway on 67th Ave & the 101. This will be home to a new Quik Trip.

We are lucky to have a local resident, Bruce Donaldson, who is a wonderful photographer and shares his work to the Everything Arrowhead Facebook Group most days. Thanks to him, I have begun to learn what a wide variety of interesting birds call Arrowhead home, and visit during different parts of the year.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who would love to learn more about the birds in his photos, so Bruce has graciously agreed to help educate us all!! Keep an eye out for more ‘Birds of Arrowhead’ in future newsletters.

[Glendale] Mission BBQ is ready to open its new Glendale location at 7350 W. Bell Road, bringing its lineup of smoked brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and classic Southern sides to the West Valley.

Friday, October 30th, from 6-9pm is Military Appreciation Night. They will also be hosting their Grand Opening Ceremony & Ribbon Cutting on November 3rd at 12pm.
