No more salad, but lots more coffee?

Summer may still have Phoenix in its grip, but the calendar is quietly starting to shift toward fall. Arizona's homegrown Salad and Go may be gone, but many of its drive-thru locations could soon have a new life. Court filings show Dutch Bros has agreed to purchase the chain's leases, equipment, and other operating assets in a deal worth approximately $105 million, paving the way for many former Salad and Go locations to be converted into Dutch Bros coffee shops across Arizona and other western states, pending bankruptcy court approval. Does our community need more drive thru coffee shops? I’m hoping Dutch Bros rolls out a new concept that is not exclusively coffee and offers some food options. We’ll see…

Glendale is about to become an even bigger destination for sports and entertainment. Dana White joined TKO Group and the Arizona Sports & Events Alliance in announcing a three-year partnership that will bring seven major UFC, WWE, Professional Bull Riders, and Zuffa Boxing events to Arizona, with Glendale expected to host many of the marquee attractions at State Farm Stadium and Desert Diamond Arena. It's another major win for the city's growing reputation as one of the nation's premier destinations for world-class events. (link)

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following closures as part of the Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) widening project.
