Restaurant Review: Barro's Pizza

In our family, there are two kinds of pizza.
The first is what I call ‘good pizza.’ Good pizza is a higher end, maybe from a brick or wood fired oven. You can get good pizza at places like Bottega, La Piazza al Forna, Babbo or Trevor’s Liquor, those kind of restaurants. It is the kind of pizza to get when you want to go out and have a nice meal, something nicer than normal that has a really good crust and maybe some exotic ingredients and ingredient pairings.
Then there is what I call ‘familiar pizza.’ Familiar pizza is a bit of a staple, and something I get when it’s Friday night or I don’t feel like cooking or I need something easy and I know it will be decent. This is the type of pizza you get from any of the national chains or local places too, and it is budget conscious.

Our favorite familiar pizza Barro’s Pizza and it has been a constant for our family for the past 11 years that we have all lived together. Two pizzas, one pepperoni and one cheese, was just enough to feed our crew of 7, and everyone was happy. It became, familiar.
Two of our boys were home from college this holiday weekend, and with our busy schedule, it worked great to just make a call and pick up some familiar pizza.
We’re a bigger family now and three pizzas caters to everyone’s tastes and provides some leftovers as well. Have to send the college boys home with some food.
We had the usual order, plus our oldest is a big fan of Barro’s Kona pizza, which has teriyaki sauce, chicken & pineapple. It is a solid choice and he was super excited to have a large pie all to himself.
I have always been a carryout pizza guy, delivery seems to take too long and led to inconsistent quality & temperatures. It is nice to make a call or oder online and in 20 minutes in most cases, the pizza is ready to be picked up.
Barro’s has many locations throughout the Valley, with one right in the heart of Arrowhead Ranch at 67th Ave & Beardsley.
