Yup, more fried chicken…

Chickii has been open for several months at the northwest corner of 59th Avenue & Beardsley, right next to Fry’s, but I had yet to stop in and give it a try.

I’d heard good things and seen videos on social media from several local food influencers. I was curious to see how it was, just never made it in.

I finally had a chance to stop in for lunch and I’m wishing I hadn’t waited so long.

To the commenter on my review of Slim Chickens, yes it is just chicken tenders & sauce, but there is nothing wrong with a simple lunch made of fresh ingredients at a local business. Is it ground breaking new territory in cuisine, no, but that isn’t what they are striving for.

If you’re a foodie, yeah, a chicken tender combo box may not be your ideal lunch, I get it. But for the rest of us, Chickii was great and I look forward to going back and will choose it over all the big fried chicken chains.

Putting my soapbox away, I had the Chickii Tender Box, which was four tenders and a side of french fries, Texas toast & coleslaw. Being a first time visitor and not fully understanding my options, you can learn from my small mistake. You have options on how spicy you want your chicken to be, in addition to choosing dipping sauces. I went with a medium spice, which tasted great but was just a bit too much for me at lunch time.

The tender box comes with two choices of dipping sauces, I went with the curry and the Chickii sauce. Both were excellent. The french fries were very good as well, and I’d say they were better than what you get at Cane’s, Slim Chickens & the other chicken joints.

I thought it was great, and a good value for what it cost. But, it is just chicken tenders & sauce so perhaps you will see it differently.
