I’m a chips & salsa junkie. It’s my favorite part of going to a Mexican food restaurant, and it is usually the deciding factor when i choose which one to go to. I like it with a bit of spice to it, my wife not so much.
We usually compromise when we go together and Popo’s is one of the places where we both enjoy the salsa.
Their salsa has the right mix of great flavor and some spice without being overbearing.
The menu at Popo’s is full of the traditional dishes you would find at most Mexican restaurants, and they do a good job with them. In a quest to find some dishes that are something different, and don’t come with a side of rice & beans (crushing chips & salsa and rice & beans means I have to go to take a nap 😎 ), I’ve been trying some new things and one of the best things I have found is their Mexican Pizza.
This was the first time I had been to Popo’s for lunch, and they have a much more manageable portion on their lunch menu. The dinner portion is more like a traditional pizza with eight pieces and it is great for a 2-4 people or if you want to have some leftover to take home. Even the lunch portion was enough for my lunch and then another meal at home.
One word of caution, they put a ton of black olives on the regular size, so if you’re not a fan and forget to ask them to hold them, you end up picking off 447 olives. 🤦♂️
The total for my lunch, which included a soda, was $20, which I thought was pretty reasonable for a sit down meal, plus enough food to take home and have for another lunch.
