Those of us in Glendale & Peoria have been wishing & hoping for a Whole Foods in the northwest part of Phoenix metro, and it appears that wish may be granted.

Per the City of Glendale website, the ‘PLANNING APPLICATION APPROVAL’ has been granted for a new Whole Foods Market location at 17510 N 75th Ave, taking over the former Big Lots space near Arrowhead Towne Center.
The approval comes through a Minor Design Review, which covers exterior improvements to the existing building to accommodate Whole Foods Market. While no new residential units are part of the project, the redevelopment will refresh a highly visible retail site on a 3.62 acre parcel within Glendale’s Yucca Council District.

Why this matters
Whole Foods Market is widely viewed as one of the most desirable grocery anchors a community can attract. Its arrival often signals confidence in the surrounding area and tends to elevate the overall retail mix nearby. Shoppers are drawn not just for groceries, but for the brand’s focus on quality, specialty items, prepared foods, and a higher end shopping experience.
For the Arrowhead area, this approval reinforces the neighborhood’s reputation as a strong, in demand retail corridor. A Whole Foods location can increase daily traffic, attract complementary businesses, and add another lifestyle oriented amenity that many residents actively seek out when choosing where to live, shop, and spend time.
At this stage, the approval is focused on design and exterior updates, not an opening date. Construction timelines and store opening details will likely follow once permits are pulled and build out begins.
