It is that glorious time of year when local entrepreneurs sell the greatest cookies ever. To find out who is selling, or to share your daughters store, go to the Everything Arrowhead Facebook Group where we have a post with everyone’s link.
Trouble at Zipps Sports Grill
Federal agents with Homeland Security Investigations conducted raids this week at several Zipps Sports Grill locations across the Phoenix metro area, resulting in multiple arrests. Authorities say the operation focused on alleged employment and documentation violations, and the investigation is ongoing. Zipps has not announced any permanent closures, but some locations experienced temporary disruptions during the enforcement action. (link)
Their location at 59th Avenue & Utopia Road is open again, as of Thursday, January 29th.
Caldwell County BBQ grand opening
Texas style barbecue is coming to the West Valley with the opening of Caldwell County BBQ in downtown Peoria on February 5th. Known for slow smoked meats and bold flavors, this is one of those spots where the food is genuinely worth a short drive to experience at least once. Their grand opening starts with a ribbon cutting at 1030am, and goes all day and will include live music that evening. (link)

What you need to know about the Loop 101 this weekend:
The reduction to one lane in both directions on 75th Avenue at the 101, has been postponed until February 1st.
75th Avenue will be narrowed to one through lane in each direction between Rose Garden Lane and Arrowhead Clubhouse Drive beginning 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1. The lane restrictions also will be in place on the 75th Avenue bridge over Loop 101, and are scheduled through mid-April.
DETOUR: Drivers may consider using 67th or 83rd avenues to access 75th Avenue via Deer Valley Road or Union Hills Drive.
Note: Some left turns will be restricted along 75th Avenue, and sidewalks may be closed intermittently.
31st Avenue will be closed in both directions at Loop 101 nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. during the following nights:
Thursday, Jan. 29
Tuesday, Feb. 3, until Friday morning, Feb. 6
Tuesday, Feb. 10, until Friday morning, Feb. 13
The westbound frontage road (Beardsley Road) will continue to be reduced to one lane between 35th and 51st avenues through 5 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15.
Reminder: Ongoing frontage road lane closuresThe eastbound frontage road (Beardsley Road) is reduced to one lane between 37th and 35th avenues through mid-April.
Upcoming eastbound Loop 101 closureEastbound Loop 101 will be closed at 51st Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, through 5 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 15 for bridgework.
The eastbound on-ramps at 59th, 67th and 75th avenues also will be closed
The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following closures as part of the Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) widening project.
