Reminder: 31st Avenue closed at Loop 101 this weekend, June 27-28

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following closure as part of the Loop 101 widening project between 75th Avenue and I-17.

31st Avenue will be closed in both directions at Loop 101 from 11 p.m. Friday, June 27, to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 28. DETOUR: Drivers may use the Loop 101 frontage roads (Beardsley Road) and 35th Avenue to navigate around the closure. Drivers should use caution and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through any work zones.

LONG-TERM RAMP CLOSURES

Westbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 35th Avenue closed for approximately 60 days beginning 11:30 p.m., Monday, May 12.

DETOUR: Drivers may use on-ramps at 27th or 51st avenues to access westbound Loop 101. Westbound Loop 101 off-ramp at 51st Avenue closed for approximately 60 days beginning 11:30 p.m., Monday, May 19.

DETOUR: Drivers may consider using the westbound Loop 101 off-ramp at 59th Avenue, then travel south to eastbound Union Hills Drive to reach 51st Avenue. Eastbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 59th Avenue will be closed for approximately 60 days beginning 11:30 p.m., Monday, May 19.

DETOUR: Drivers may consider using eastbound Union Hills Drive to 51st Avenue to access eastbound Loop 101 ONGOING RESTRICTIONS

Lane restrictions are ongoing at the following locations for bridge work and frontage road improvements.

At the 51st and 35th avenue interchanges:

All on- and off-ramps will be narrowed to one lane The left-turn lane for both east- and westbound on-ramps will be narrowed to one lane 51st and 35th avenues will be narrowed to one lane under Loop 101 At the 31st Avenue interchange:

The 31st Avenue shoulders will be closed under Loop 101. Pedestrian access is still available. Frontage roads:

Much of the work on the frontage roads was completed in March 2025. Short-term periodic restrictions on the frontage roads may be needed in the future.

Glendale has officially entered Stage 1 of its Drought Management Plan following a Tier 1 Colorado River shortage. (link)

Seven Brothers Burgers Brings a Taste of Hawaii to Peoria with Grand Opening

Peoria just got a whole lot tastier. The highly anticipated Seven Brothers Burgers has officially opened its newest location at 8265 W. Happy Valley Road, marking the beloved Hawaiian-inspired burger joint’s debut in the West Valley.. (link)

Arizona is taking a big step toward building a passenger rail line between Phoenix and Tucson. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) recently got federal approval to move forward with the next phase of planning for this exciting project. (link)

Glendale’s taco scene is about to get a serious upgrade. For four days only, El Califa de León, a Michelin-starred taquería from Mexico City, is popping up at Westgate Entertainment Distric, and yes, it’s kind of a big deal. (link)

We held our new local business networking event, Brews & Business on Thursday, June 26th. We had a limited turn out but those of us in attendance had some great conversation over a cold pop. 😎
