COMMUNITY NEWS
Peoria’s $1 billion dollar water plan
Peoria officials have revealed a sweeping, multi-decade water security plan centered on a new reclamation facility designed to treat wastewater into usable water to help meet growing demand. The city will expand its Beardsley Water Reclamation Facility from 4 to 6 million gallons per day, upgrade pump and pipeline infrastructure, and convert portions of the Pleasant Valley Reservoir into a reclaimed water hub. Mayor Jason Beck has highlighted this effort as a cornerstone initiative to safeguard Peoria’s future water supply. (link)

Amkor breaks ground
Amkor Technology, a global leader in semiconductor packaging and testing, broke ground today, on a $7 billion advanced manufacturing campus in Peoria. This is the first business to build within Peoria’s new Innovation Core.
In August, Peoria purchased 834.5 acres of state trust land through public auction to support new industrial, commercial, and mixed-use development within the Peoria Innovation Core. Amkor is building on 104-acres of the newly acquired Core 2 property to fill a critical need in the domestic chip supply chain by bringing advanced packaging and testing back to U.S. soil. Construction is expected to be completed by mid-2027, with production beginning in early 2028. (link)

NEIGHBORHOOD HIGHLIGHT

Good news for local families, Sierra Verde Park just got a nice refresh from the City of Glendale! The playground area has been completely upgraded with new equipment, giving kids a fun and safer place to play.
The city began the project earlier this year as part of a plan to update older park features. Construction wrapped up recently, and the new playground is now open for everyone to enjoy. The work focused mainly on the play area and nearby lighting, making it easier and safer to use the park in the evening.

ARIZONA TRIVIA
What name was given to the prehistoric Hohokam city near Sacaton, Arizona?
Last week’s trivia question was ‘What county in Airzona has over 1,000 miles of shoreline?’
The answer was: Mohave
It might surprise many to learn that landlocked Arizona is home to more than 1,000 miles of shoreline, and most of it lies within Mohave County. Stretching along the Colorado River and wrapping around Lake Mead, Lake Mohave, and Lake Havasu, Mohave County offers more waterfront than many coastal states. From sandy beaches on Lake Havasu to the rugged coves of Lake Mead, the region has become a paradise for boaters, anglers, and desert sun-seekers alike. It’s one of Arizona’s best-kept secrets: a desert county with endless water adventures.

Pet of the Week

Meet Linguini
Linguini and his sister Remi were surrendered to our rescue. The family had already give some of the litter away for free. We didn't want to see these two given away and not get the medical (vaccines and altered) they need.
Linguini is a puppy. A puppy requires lots of love and even more patience, The foster said they are both really good puppies! The will need help with the final steps in their potty training. Very few accidents so far! They will need two more Parvo/Distemper vaccines to complete their series. There isn't much we can say because they are PUPPIES! Snuggly and adorable!
Linguini is approximately 4 months old and weighs 7.2 pounds.
Learn more about Linguini and the other available pets at Paw Posse Animal Rescue.
We are partnering with Paw Posse Animal Rescue, and will be sharing a pet each week who is available for adoption. If you are thinking of getting a new pet, please consider adoption as a way to find your next best friend.
