COMMUNITY NEWS
$150k public art?
Peoria is investing in a bold new piece of public art, for the Park West shopping and dining hub. The project, with a budget of $150,000, will bring a site-specific installation to life incorporating elements like light, wind or solar power to engage residents, visitors and the West Valley community. It’s a strong signal that Peoria values creativity, place-making and the visitor experience in our region. Keep an eye out for updates and artist announcements as this exciting initiative unfolds. What do you think, should the local municipalities be investing artwork at privately owned properties?

Check this site to see when your neighborhood is hosting its community garage sale.

FOOD STUFF

Restaurant Review: Lazy Bird Kitchen & Cocktails
There is a swanky new restaurant at the Park West shopping center, at Northern & the loop 101. Lazy Bird recently opened in the former home of Cabin Whiskey & Grill.
We stopped in for lunch to check out this new spot and have some of their new lunch specials. (link)
Bottega Ristorante has closed
Sad news for a popular local restaurant. The owners of Bottega Ristorante, at 59th Ave & Utopia Road, in the Citadelle, have made the decision to close their restaurant. They are relocating to Italy to be close to their son who is pursuing a career as a professional soccer player. Bottega will be missed, but I think we can all agree they are making the right decision. (link)

NEIGHBORHOOD HIGHLIGHT
In this Everything Arrowhead feature, meet Bruce Donaldson, the Arrowhead neighbor whose breathtaking bird and wildlife photos have become a local favorite.
For more than 20 years, Bruce has turned his camera toward the beauty right outside his back door. From herons and hummingbirds to perfect lake reflections, his images remind us to slow down and appreciate the everyday magic around us.
But there’s more to Bruce than just a lens, he’s also a pilot, a musician, and a true storyteller. Whether he’s playing Jimmy Buffett by the water or capturing the flight of a night heron, Bruce embodies what it means to love where you live.

ARIZONA TRIVIA
What was the original name of the Hoover Dam?
Last week’s trivia question was ‘What is the official gemstone of the State of Arizona?’
The answer was: Turqoise
Designated in 1974, turquoise has been prized for centuries by Indigenous peoples of the Southwest for its sky-blue and green hues. It’s often found in copper-rich areas, especially in mines near Bisbee, Kingman, and Morenci, and is commonly used in Native American jewelry and Southwestern art.

Pet of the Week

Meet Tator Tot
This handsome fella is looking for a place to land. Unlike his last home (they snuck off in the night and left him) he would like it to be permanent. He is very laid back. Loves to get the snuggles. He walks on a leash and has pretty good manners. If you are looking for a guy who attracts men, women, and children from all over this is him!
Tater Tot is neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and 4DX (tick/heartworm test) negative.
Tater Tot is approximately 1 year old and weighs 48 pounds.
Learn more about Tater Tot and the other available pets at Paw Posse Animal Rescue.
We are partnering with Paw Posse Animal Rescue, and will be sharing a pet each week who is available for adoption. If you are thinking of getting a new pet, please consider adoption as a way to find your next best friend.
